The Break

A white circle on black, split clean by a jagged crack that runs from top to bottom. On either side, abstract rectangular forms drift apart — separated, but still recognizable as having once been whole. The grain of the image gives it the texture of something old, something found, something that has already been through it.

This is a painting about rupture. About the moment after, when the two halves are still close enough to see each other but too far apart to touch. It's stark, it's quiet, and it carries more weight than its simplicity suggests.
