An empty Target parking lot on a perfect blue-sky day. A black SUV sits at the center of concentric circles etched into the asphalt — a bullseye within a bullseye, a mandala of the mundane. The red facade looms behind it, iconic and indifferent.

This is a painting about the rituals we don't recognize as rituals. The weekly pilgrimage. The cart return. The moment of stillness before you go back inside your life. It's funny, it's melancholy, and it's more true than it has any right to be.
